Omit the material on projections in inner-product at the end of section 6.1. Omit the material on the QR factorization and the Gram-Schmidt process in inner-product spaces at the end of section 6.2. Notes on exercises Do exercise 2 of 6.1 using the projection formula (1) on page 327 and also the general method which requires finding the orthogonal complement of [2,1] in R^2. For exercise 16 of 6.1 do this in two ways. First follow the method suggested in example 5. Second use the general method outlined on page 333.
