| Facilities: | The Workshop will
take place in the SFU Big Data Hub at Simon Fraser University. This
is located in rooms 10900,10908, and 10940 of the ASB Building at SFU
(Burnaby Campus).
There are many affordable dining options both on-campus and in the neighbouring residential community Univercity. There are many restaurants along the Hastings corridor. There is a frequent bus line B95 (formerly 135) between SFU and Downtown that drives along it. |
| Getting to SFU: |
It is not difficult to get to SFU using public transit from the
airport, and for those with a manageable amount of luggage we
suggest the following
Transporation
Directions. Keep in mind that the closest transit stop to the
residences is the "University Dr at W Campus Rd" stop. You can also get out at SFU Transportation Centre and walk across campus.
Transit fares: It may be worth considering buying a Compass Card at the airport. There is no recharge point at the university, though. You can also buy tickets as you go, but be aware that on the bus you need exact change and that tickets you buy on the bus are not valid for transfer to the skytrain. Click here for a transit routing from the Airport to the University Dr at W Campus Rd stop Another possibility for those with a large amount of luggage is to take the skytrain from the Airport to Waterfront and then to get a cab (these are easily available and should cost around $30). |
| Checking in: |
To check in you go to the Residence and Housing Office
(778-782-4201) which is located in the Residence Administration
Building, highlighted in the map below. Regular check-in is usually
from 3pm-9:30pm, but SFU Guest Accommodations does try to
accommodate requests outside that window if you let them know (in
particular, they do accommodate late arrivals and try to
accommodate early check-ins). You will need proper picture ID for
check-in, as well as a credit card for incidentals.

On-call staff will then meet you for check-in at the Residence Office. Arrivals after midnight are discouraged." |
